Research Professor and Leader of the Sustainable and Applied Biotechnology Group. Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Westminster, London, UK, in European Union Funded Project. Visiting Professor at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA.
Dr. Parra is the inventor of 18 granted patents in Mexico and internationally for the development of bioprocesses, bioproducts, and photobioreactors.
Co-author of more than 200 scientific articles in international journals in Scopus, 15 book chapters, and 2 books.
Dr. Parra has coordinated more than 30 research projects funded by more than $120 million MXN by national and international entities.
Dr. Parra is an international leader in Biotechnological Bioprocesses, with a robust network of international collaborators across the academic and industrial sectors with more than 200 research groups.
Member of the National Researchers System of Mexico (SNI-Level III), Mexican Society of Biotechnology and Bioengineering, and Mexican Academy of Sciences.
Coordinator of international networks LIDA (CYTED) and BIOCATEM (CONACyT) for the development of biocatalytic bioprocesses and biomaterials. Director and funder of MARTEC national wastewater epidemiology COVID-19 surveillance program in Tech Community.
